The Show Will Go On
It was a bitter sweet day yesterday. Ava went to NexStar dance competition and did fantastic!
Two of her solo dances won Platinum and her groups received platinum and high gold as well.
She won the title of Junior Miss NexStar and took first place in tap, jazz, and ballet. She was also the highest overall 11 and under for scores. Ava's hard work and practice paid off. One of her costumes also won best costume. Now the bitter part. During the break for lunch an awful dance mom went into the dressing room and stole Ava's solo costumes. The theater was searched as well as the parking lot but nothing was found. These costumes were custom made for Ava and cost over $1500. Ava did fundraisers at the end of last year to help pay for them. Her mom and grandma and dance teacher toiled for more than 20 hours putting on feathers and rhinestones for these costumes. She has only performed in these costumes twice and needs them for a dozen more performances this year. There was security cameras through out the parking lot and exits of the theater so on monday they will have their IT department search for the suspect. But it is likly that they will be thrown away since the costumes could not be used performances. Everyone in the dance community is now aware of what happened and is so supportive. We have costume designers donating their time and dance friend willing to help out with more fundraising. The dance world can be a little crazy but on the whole we are a tight family that come together to help each other out when in need. One bad egg can cause a lot of pain in a little girl's life, but the rest will reach out and lift her and the rest of the girls up.
